Whale Watching & Sky Lagoon

Enjoy an amazing combination of an adventurous whale spotting cruise and a relaxing soak in Sky Lagoon geothermal spa!

About

Special Tours operates two types of whale watching from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik, Whale Watching Classic and Whale Watching Express. The Whale Watching Classic (3-3.5 hours) is normally operated on our largest boat, Andrea. The Andrea gives extra comfort, with great inside and outside viewing areas. She is very family friendly with an educational and interactive focus with whale bones, baleen plates, teeth and a microscope on board to look at sea specimens. The Classic tours are guided in English year-round, with German guidance available May 1st – September 30th.

The Whale Watching Express tour sails on either Lilja, one of our newest additions to the Special Tours fleet, or Rósin, a boat custom-built for whale watching in Iceland. From the Old Harbour it takes only 15-20 minutes to get to the whale watching area. The Express gets you out to the whale watching area in less time but gives you the same time on the bay whale watching. The tour only takes 2-2,5 hours.

The most common whales spotted include minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises.

The Sky Lagoon is the newest geothermal lagoon in Iceland, and carries on the tradition of geothermal bathing that has existed in the country for centuries. Located just 15 minute’s drive from the city center, this is the perfect way to relax and treat yourself in a stunning location along the Icelandic coastline where sea meets sky. The 7-step Ritual process guides you through your lagoon experience, including a sauna, cold pool, scrub, and mist.
